Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools – Elementary PTA

Hello Everyone,
 
Found out that we can still order on Monday morning (Dec. 14) and receive our shirts by Friday, Dec. 18th and at the latest Monday, Dec. 21st.  So you can still order shirts by 10 a.m. this coming Monday, Dec. 14th.  Here are some pictures that show you what they shirts and eagle look like in a little more detail.  Found out that the Eagle Doll will either come with a blue bandana with green TMS on the bandana or it will come with a Pink SHIRT and green letters.

The Holiday Wish Train is a way for us parents to make dreams come true in our children’s classrooms.  Each teacher (1st through 8th grade including art, music, etc…) has placed Holiday Gift Wishes in a Holiday Train Car with their name on it.  Some of the wishes I noticed were book sets, printer cartridges, gift cards to Learning Experiences, and much more.  All of these Holiday wishes will provide more educational tools for our children’s classrooms and provide needed supplies to help make it through the school year.  So please stop by the school and see if you can fill a wish for a teacher.  The elementary teachers will be having a Faculty Meeting/Holiday Party on Monday, Dec. 14th if you could possibly drop off your gifts in the school office by that time.  Feel free to deliver the Holiday Wishes for the teachers anytime through December 22nd.
 
The Holiday Wish Train is located on the large wall opposite the school front doors. It is an amazing train that was created by Isabelle Hubbard (a parent volunteer).

It is time to sign up for spring Extra Explorations classes.  TMSE and TMSM are offering many classes from “step” to tap dancing.  From painting (on real canvases) to drama (presenting Jungle Book).  We are also offering Lego Mania, Old Fashioned Arts and Crafts, Photography and Cheerleading!  If you have questions about a class, please feel free to call Mrs. Woolf, the instructor, or Mrs. Burkhalter.  Brochures (like this one: Explorations Form) went home today so check your child’s backpack and return the registration form as soon as possible.  If you need to send your student to “extended day” between classes, we can work that out as well.

Family Art Night – Christmas Tree this Thursday, Dec. 10th
5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
 
Create your Christmas painting on Thursday, December 10th at the Tuscaloosa Magnet School.  Come with your child or grandchild to paint your very own masterpiece, together!!  What a wonderful gift for someone you care about.  Artist, Amanda Gilliam will guide you through every step of your own masterpiece.
 
Return your form Dec Family Art Form by this Thursday, Dec. 10th or bring it with you.  Pizza, dessert, and drinks are included in the Cost.  $25 for the 1st Canvas (includes dinner for two) and you can add more canvases for your family to work on for $15 each.

The TMSE PTA is offering long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, and hooded sweatshirts to order for Christmas gifts and to show your school spirit.  Two different designs can be placed on any of the three types of shirts mentioned.  Order by this Friday to guarantee delivery before school breaks for the holidays.
 
Long Sleeve Shirts – $15
Crew Neck Sweatshirts – $20
Hooded Sweatshirts – $25
 
Plus order a plush 7″ Eagle Doll for $10. 
 
Print out the attached order form TMSE Winter Spirit Order Form and return to school by Friday, December 11th.  Orders received after that date are welcomed, but delivery may be after the holidays.

TMSE PTA Events and more this week (December 7th – 13th)
 
Monday, December 7th – The Best Christmas Pagaent Ever @ 7 p.m. (The Herdmans are absolutely and without question the worst kids “in the entire history of the world.” They are guilty of evey unmentionable childhood crime and have thought of more than a few original ones. When they take over the church Christmas pageant (although none of them has ever attended church, much less heard the Christmas story before), the first Christmas becomes new and real in some pretty surprising ways.  Cost: $5 per person
 
Tuesday, December 8th – The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (snacks and drinks for sale) for students at 9:15 a.m. and Santa Pictures are taken this day.
 
Wednesday, December 9th – Classroom Spelling Bee
 
Thursday, December 10th – Family Art Night (Christmas Tree): Step by step instructions from a local art instructor will help you and your child create a Christmas Masterpiece to share with your family or give as a gift.
 
Friday, December 11th – TMSE Winter Wear order due (Long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, and an eagle doll)
 
Saturday, December 12th – Alabama vs Purdue Men’s Basketball at 8 p.m.

ALL ABOARD FOR THE HOLIDAY WISH TRAIN

Just like our children, teachers have wishes, too! Your PTA is creating the Holiday Wish Train which you will see on the main wall opposite the main entrance doors with a train car for each teacher (1st through 8th Grade).  Inside each train car is a Holiday Wish Present Card with an item listed on each card that the teachers could use in their classroom. This item could be markers, notepads, printer cartridges, printer, or a 2010 Cadillac Escalade! Choose a gift that you feel will be helpful to your teacher and their respective classrooms.
 
Gifts wrapped for the Teachers can be brought to the school office for drop off and we will have a special party for the teachers on December 14th after school. Gifts can be dropped off at the school office or to the classroom through December 22nd.
 
The Holiday Wish Train will be added to the wall on Monday, November 30th by Isabelle Hubbard.  A big “Thank You” to Isabelle Hubbard for her creative work and time devoted to this project.

Hello PTA Members,
 
I want to thank all of the volunteers that have been helping out this year!
 
Recently we created a great meal for our teachers which included a Baked Potato Bar, Salad, desserts, and drinks.  Our volunteers for this Teacher Apprecition Meal were Rajuan Sherman, Brigitte Williams, Alisa Kincaid, Jackie Graves, and Alisha Waller! A big thanks to Charlotte Ward for organizing.
 
Family Art Night – Thanks to Laura Wolf, Becky Dowdy, Lynn Oldshue, and Jeanne Burkhalter
 
Reflections – Thanks to Lynn Oldshue, Mrs. Grayson, Mr. Bissell, Mrs. Bechtel, Mrs. Hendrix, Ms. Broadhead, and all the others I am missing.
 
GameDay Parking – 4 weekends of parking cars for the Bama Football games with a variety of parents to thank!  Special thanks to Anthony Harris and Jeanne Burkhalter.

Hello Parents and Teachers!
 
We are excited to offer you a variety of winter wear with some new logos that incorporates our school colors and school mascot.  We have two different screenprints that you can choose to wear, and then you have the choice to order the screenprint on a long sleeve shirt, a crewneck sweatshirt, or a hooded sweatshirt.
 
On top of this you can order a 7″ Eagle plush toy wearing either a pink or blue bandana with “TMS” printed on the bandana.
 
All of these can be great gifts for friends and family for Christmas, Yule, Hanukkah, Kawanzaa, etc…  There is a box to check if you would like to come to the school to pick up your gift when it arrives on Dec. 21st.
 
Order by December 11th to guarantee delivery by December 21st (before school closes for the winter break). Checks are to be made out to “TMSE-PTA” and can be post dated up to December 15th if needed.

The show  is an informative, entertaining 30-minute television program about current happenings in the Tuscaloosa City Schools.
